So here's the deal. We have three complete strangers coming over to our house for dinner tonight. I've never met them, but they're people that my dad works with. Well, technically I guess I've met one of them. She worked with my Dad in North Dakota, which means that the absolute most recent time that I could have seen her would be... oh... about 9 years ago. Needless to say, I don't remember her. So yeah, these folks are all coming over for hamburgers tonight. Hopefully that will be fun.
In other news, I still have an interview scheduled for two weeks from today! Yeehaw! I'm really excited about this possibility. What's even funnier: last night before I went to bed I got an email from the pastor at the other church I had contacted for more information on their position. This means that I might be working on two applications/interviews/auditions at once! Two weeks of silence and I hear back from them both the same day, what are the odds of that? Hopefully they aren't greater than the odds of me finding employment for this coming school year! It would seriously rock to get either one of these jobs, for two basic reasons: 1. It would be great to start getting some real experience in a church doing this. Being as how I'm hoping to make a full time living at it someday... yeah, it would be nice to finally get paid for it, and 2. I need a job this year... I have to find something to help pay the cell phone bill and put gas in my car. And given the option, I'd rather have it be something I love to do, such as... oh... let me think... MY DREAM PART TIME JOB, which is... well, either of the ones I'm applying for. Imagine that. So, fingers crossed (as always).
(Side Note: one of the suggested tags for this post is "coming clean." what?)
Talked to Mike last night. Apparently one of the other two bands that was supposed to be playing with us on Sunday dropped out of the gig. On the surface, that's not cool, but when you dig a little deeper, it means that we get to play a longer set, so that's fun. I figure, if you're only going to play one gig a month, and you're going to drive 4 hours from home to get to band practice/said gig, it's nice to get to play a nice long set. So that's good. I've also got my music all practiced and polished for Sunday morning at FPC, so that's a good deal too.
This has been a long entry, I shall end it now.
(Additional Side Note: I now also have suggestions of "play time" and "jobs are nice." Yes, yes they are)
