The nonsensical ponderings of Eric Frisch...
A "Nice and Easy" Saturday
I haven't been around much. It's crunch time at Otterbein - we're heading into our 9th week of the 10 week quarter. Combine that with a very busy time at work and some other random things, and I unfortunately lose time for a lot of things, including this. But today is a "nice and easy" type of day, so here I sit. So far I've spent this Saturday sleeping in, catching up on emails, doing laundry, and eating cold pizza left over from last night. Not bad at all.
Lots going on... what to write about? Despite the craziness, life is pretty good right now. I'm keeping busy, but not feeling overwhelmed. I like that. I really thrive on having a lot to do, as long as it doesn't get out of control, so times like this are good for me.
Winter continues to be in full effect here in Ohio. I don't mind the cold at all, and as I've mentioned here before, I'm actually a pretty big fan of snow as well... but this is just stating to get ridiculous. We've had snow on the ground for about two weeks now, and a lot of icy, slushy mess. No fun. And yet, when the snow and ice are fresh, they still look so glorious... here's a picture that I took of our "backyard" earlier this week:
I've been writing a lot of new music lately. Some of the people I know that write songs are like machines - they're constantly getting ideas, and they finish songs quickly... sometimes several in a day or a week's time. I'm not like that. I work on a song for a long time. I add, I take away, I change... sometimes I let a song sit for several weeks without touching it at all. It takes me a long time to finish one, but when I do, it's usually something I'm really proud of. I have several tunes right now that are getting close to that completed stage... it makes me happy.
On a sadder note, I found out this week that a friend from high school passed away. He would have been 25 on Thursday... these sorts of things are hard to understand (for everyone, I think), but he truly loved the Lord, and I have no doubt that he is with the Father now... still a sad thing for those of us still here on earth, though.
That's all I can really think of now. More later, I'm sure.
