So I got down here at 11 AM today, and they told me to move into my room, grab lunch and report to rehearsal at 12:30!
That was a pretty quick start to college! But I got it all done, and after 7 HOURS of rehearsal today, I got back to my room at 9. I managed to get everything unpacked and arranged by 10, all while talking on the phone! How's that for good! I was very proud of myself.
But yeah... 7 hours of rehearsal was not easy. We practiced 1-5, had dinner, and then practiced 6-9. Tomorrow we have rehearsal 9-9 with an hour for lunch and an hour for dinner, nuts!
I'm playing quads, which is cool, because that's what I really wanted to play. They put me on them without an audition, just because I had previous experience playing tenors! I've even got a brand new set to play... they had two and just bought a third and I get to play them! Here's the problem with that... there are some important adjustments that need to be made to the drums and harness, and we didn't have the tools here today to make them.
Because of that... I am aching all over. The exact same kind of quads that I played for three years at Columbian have literally reduced me to a little ball of pain. The drums were set so that all the weight was being transferred to the small of my back... and as a result I have extreme pain right now in my back, knees, and heels. I'm hoping we can get them fixed tomorrow... cause a 12 hour rehearsal day like today could literally reduce me to tears.
Other than that, the whole thing excites me... it's going to be very good. I'll post often and long, as I always have! You'll hear from me, don't worry!
